Event: MHA Hall of Fame

When we say style, it means the look from head to toe that represents individual appearance. Head, the top part of of whole body, so can you realize how important hairstyle to everyone of us? A bad hair day might definitely ruin your mood yet an awesome hairstyle makes you confident, agree?

MHA ( Malaysia Hairdressing Association) was glittering evening of high fashion and stylish hair gala with themed When Fashion Meets Art: Hall of Fame at Shangri-la Grand Ballroom, to celebrate the achievements of national hairdressing scene over past past year. Hall of Fame was presented in five parts by  prominent Malaysian hairstylists Winnie Loo, Alex Wong, Alex Lim, Miko Au and Lois Lee.

Part One
Winnie Loo of A Cut Above

05The first show was my favor of the night. Avant garde inspired yet elegant high street hairstyle in Bill Keith couture collection, perfect enjoyment in Vitas famous song Opera! The show wasn’t presented in ordinary catwalk. It was started with setting props of cocktail drinks on table at the center of the stage, few models chit chat casually, in another way few models walked elegantly in the high street…It perfectly portrayed the upper class society ladies social lifestyle.

Second part of Winnie’s show, golden door named Door of Fame was set, the entrance where stars were created. I kinda love that kind of metaphor!

17Very beautiful Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 Carey Ng catwalk for the show.

The finale

Group pic of Winnie Loo with her team of A Cut Above, and also the famous songbird Crystal Lee.
Crystal Lee’s performance Someone Like You was the prologue of Winnie’s hair show.

part two
Alex Wong of Alex Wong Hair Salon

This collection was named Beauty and The Beast. Those headgears were pretty amazingly made!

part three
Alex Lim of La’ Mode Coiffure

Alex Lim not only a great hairstylist but surprisingly can sing well!
His remarkable dramatic performance on stage with amount of hair spray was captured.

22The finale was full with the scent of hairspray too, even from my second row.
part four
Miko Au of Miko Au Hair Studio

2Another highlight of the night who win a loud applause. Overall collection was so street and rock!

Finale Tini was the highlight of the show, everybody screams on her masculine beauty.

The finale

32I see only ONE style in this group pic, very praiseworthy and that’s is a collection meant for, unity.
This collection took the perfect balance of reality and show-quality, where all hairstyles were ready for outing if you dare. And yes, I dare! :)
A round big applause for Miko and his awesome team.

part five
Lois Lee of Lois Lee Salon

35Legendary Lois Lee’s collection was about red black and white, highly appreciation because all garments were made of recycle items.

A Cut Above Academy Official Grand Opening Party

A Cut Above all started in a small little space at a building downtown back in the 70s. It was in Wisma HLA that founder and Chief Creative Director – Winnie Loo hung the first A Cut Above signage. Years have since passed and without having to say it, A Cut Above has grown into a giant chain in the hairdressing industry.

In the three decades, Winnie Loo has recruited and trained over a thousand employees, having turned them into some of the most sought after hairdressers and stylists in the industry. With a passion for education, the company churned out the inaugural A Cut Above Academy in 2004. “It was always my ambition not to only create jobs for the young potentials but also my belief in guiding them personally to ensure that they have a great foundation and career in this line of work that they have chosen,” she said.

Slowly the academy grew. With dedication and commitment, today, A Cut Above Academy not only enrolls local students but have seen foreign students passed through their doors, some of which from as far as the Middle East, and Africa not forgetting within the region. This year, after eight years in Sunway Pyramid, A Cut Above Academy has now moved to a bigger location in order to cater for the growing crowd of potentials who seek a successful career in the hairdressing/make up industry.

Amazing avant-garte hair piece from A Cut Above Academy.

The back- We must not the important cos this may be the most interesting part of the show.

Another beautiful piece that I love.
